What is soul loss?
Have you ever felt that something essential is missing from your life? Perhaps you're moving through the motions, doing all the things you're supposed to do, yet something inside feels distant, quiet, or asleep.
Maybe you remember a time when you felt more alive. When joy came naturally, your intuition was strong, and you felt deeply connected to yourself and the world around you.
Somewhere along the way, that connection may have faded.
In shamanic traditions, it is believed that when we experience trauma, loss, heartbreak, or overwhelming life events, parts of our soul may withdraw as a way of protecting us. This is sometimes called soul loss.
Soul loss doesn't always follow a dramatic event. Sometimes it happens gradually, through years of putting others first, suppressing our true feelings, or living a life that doesn't fully reflect who we are.
You may feel it as:
- A sense of emptiness or disconnection, even when life looks good on the outside.
- A longing for something you can't quite name.
- Feeling stuck in old patterns or repeating the same struggles.
- A loss of creativity, passion, playfulness, or joy.
- Difficulty knowing what you truly want or trusting your inner voice.
- A feeling that you're living only a small part of the life you came here to live.
These experiences can have many causes, but within the spiritual framework of soul retrieval, they may be invitations to reconnect with parts of yourself that have been forgotten, hidden, or left behind.
